S’thembile Cele is a financial markets reporter for Bloomberg News, covering Sub-Saharan Africa and the political and economic forces shaping the region, with a particular focus on their implications for markets, businesses and policymakers.

She has more than a decade of experience in journalism, spanning financial markets, economics, government and politics across leading print, digital and broadcast platforms. Her reporting examines how policy and economic developments translate into consequences for businesses, investors and ordinary citizens, while connecting developments in South Africa and across the continent to broader global trends.

Before joining Bloomberg, S’thembile held senior political reporting roles at the Sunday Times and City Press, where she covered government, Parliament and South African politics. She has also anchored current-affairs programmes at Primedia’s CapeTalk radio station.

S’thembile holds a Bachelor’s degree in International Studies and an Honours degree in Journalism from Stellenbosch University, as well as a Master’s degree in Development and Economics from the University of the Witwatersrand.
